Get warmed up for the World Cup

Nov. 10, 2022

The FIFA World Cup 2022 kicks off on November 20th and runs until 18th December with England and Wales taking part from the United Kingdom alongside 30 other teams from across the world.

We have put together a Free World Cup Pack for you to bring football to the classroom. The pack includes a range of activities for you to use with your class over the next month.

We have included football warm ups and three lessons from our PE and wellbeing platform Striver, activities from Purple Mash, a book from Serial Mash and resources from Striker Boy.

Purple Mash Subscribers

If you have a Purple Mash subscription we have a whole range of resources that schools can use over the month. For each of the eight groups, there are template fact files that children can use to research the countries taking part, including attractions, languages spoken and previous football achievements. Within each folder alongside the fact files there is also a template that will help pupils write match reports about the teams.

The match report template includes prompts for children to think about, for example, who was the player of the match, the best and the worst moments, key points for each half and useful phrases to help the children structure their writing.

Children can use our player profile to write about one of the players taking part in the tournament and can complete research into their background. There is also a History of the World Cup Slideshow for the children to watch and then use our template to write about the history of the World Cup. There are also templates for research and writing about the previous winners of the World Cup, a World Cup Match Tracker, World Cup Quiz as well as a range of coding games and paint projects there really is something for everyone over the World Cup.
