Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year for Muslims and takes place during the ninth month of their calendar. This year the period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community starts on Saturday 2nd April and runs until Sunday 1st May. Here, we highlight some resources you can use within Purple Mash to teach your pupils about Ramadan during this time and beyond.

Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year for Muslims and celebrated during the 9th month of their calendar. Ramadan doesn’t follow the western calendar and instead follows the Lunar calendar meaning the month can change each year. This year the celebration starts on Monday 12th April.

This year Diwali falls on Saturday, 27th October and we want to celebrate with a Festival of Light competition that will run until Thursday, 31st October. We are celebrating light and colour and invite your class to be creative and get involved. What does Diwali mean to you?
