The Bett show series | Dot Com Digital

March 22, 2022

The leading EdTech trade show in the UK is back and we’ll be there! Bett 2022 is a free event that is taking place from 23rd to 25th March 2022 at London Excel. Each day in the run up to #BETT2022 we will be showcasing one of our products that you can find out more about at the show. You can find us on stand NE61 in the teaching and learning area. In the final blog of the series we look at covering the RSE framework and PSHE curriculum with Dot Com Digital.

Dot Com Digital

Dot Com Digital provides a unique safeguarding programme that supports children’s personal, social and emotional development and helps provide a safe space for them to learn the skills to lead a safe and happy life.

Teachers can access free resources to support emerging threats, created with children, safeguarding leads, Essex Police and the National Police Chief Council Lead for Internet Intelligence and Investigations. Lessons cover emergency services, grooming, county lines and knife crime.

Over 24 themes

Dot Com Digital houses over 24 themes which enables schools to deliver a rich PSHE curriculum whilst fulfilling the requirements of the 2020 RSE framework. The programme supports the teaching of ages 5-11 and includes overviews, videos, lesson plans and activities.

Some of the themes covered within Dot Com Digital include:

  • Families and people who care for me
  • Caring friendships
  • Respectful relationships
  • Being safe and internet safety threats
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Physical health, fitness and healthy eating
  • Health and prevention
  • Changing bodies

The Digital Dot Minute

The platform includes a Digital Dot Minute, that children can use if they're feeling worried or afraid by something. This can provide a safe way for children to report worries and allows them to raise issues with the teacher in a confidential way.

It is great to have an age-appropriate resource to deliver, knowing that we are meeting the statutory requirements for relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education. The lessons have led to children participating in engaging and high-quality discussions with their teachers and peers. We have been pleased to see that the Dot Com programme has enhanced children's understanding of how to stay safe. This has given children a voice and the confidence to share their own safeguarding concerns.
