April 29, 2022
Walk to School Week is one of our favourite weeks here at 2Simple. Starting on 17th May, the week gives everyone across the UK a chance to unite in the joy of fresh air and light exercise as we all walk to school.
The theme for 2022 is #PowerUp and Living Streets have created a five-day walking challenge that is fun, engaging and raises awareness. With 60 minutes of activity recommended each day, the best way to start is a walk in the morning.
Here at 2Simple, we have compiled a few resources for schools to raise awareness of Walk to School Week 2022.
If you subscribe to Purple Mash, you can find all of our resources for Walk to School Week here.
Why should we walk to school? How does walking improve wellbeing? Have children answer these questions and more by designing a Walk to School poster, encouraging everyone to commute on foot and promoting the benefits.
Put those sentence building skills to the test with our Walking Words activity. Let’s face it, walk is a bit of an ordinary word, so have a go at giving it a bit more swagger. Don’t dawdle! How many synonyms can you think of?
When we walk to school, work, or anywhere else close to roads, it’s always important to be safety conscious. Complete our road safety leaflet activity to instruct others on how to stay safe whilst walking next to busy roads during Walk to School Week and beyond.
Will you be walking to school? We’d love to see your adventures. Share your photos with us on our Twitter or Facebook pages.
