Make way: Purple Mash is coming through with another great time-saving (and stress-saving!) tip for you! It's time to set up Quick Logins to make logging into Purple Mash a breeze. Take a look at our step-by-step instructional blog to show you how to set up Quick Logins and create desktop shortcuts to Purple Mash and Mini Mash.
Quick Login is a great feature of Purple Mash and Mini Mash that launches the platforms in one click, with no need for children to enter a password until they save their work. It's a great way to ensure fast starts to lessons.
Quick login shortcuts can be saved to your favourites or to the desktop. On an iPad you can add it to your homescreen so it appears like an app.
Finding quick login links is the same process for both desktops and tablets. You will not need to download icons for tablets.
1. Click on your avatar and click 'Enable Quick Login'.
2. Click 'View Quick Login settings'.
3. Download your icons and copy your Quick Login link(s).
To start the process, right click on your desktop, scroll down to 'New' and across to 'Shortcut'.
1. Paste in the quick login URL in the location box and click 'Next'.
2. Name your shortcut (Purple Mash) and click 'Finish'.
To change the icon to the Purple Mash or Mini Mash icon you downloaded earlier, right click on the shortcut and click 'Properties'.
1. Click on 'Change Icon' and then 'Browse' to find the image on your computer (usually in the Downloads folder).
2. Click Apply, and you should have a mash-tastic desktop shortcut!
To begin this process, you'll need to navigate to Purple Mash in your web browser and enable the Quick Logins by clicking the green 'Enable' button. This will allow your Quick Login link to work.
Then, paste your Quick Login link into the address bar and press enter.
Click share and 'Add to Home Screen' - this will create an icon for you.
Repeat the process for Mini Mash if needed.
For students logging in, teachers will need to activate the Quick Login feature from the menu, using the green 'Enable' button. This will allow temporary access for 10 minutes. See the below video for a quick demonstration.
