Schools can now develop a greater home-school connection with the Parent Portal in Purple Mash.
The Parent Portal is a safe and secure, separate section of Purple Mash just for parents! It allows parents to stay in the loop and see their child's learning all in one place.
When parents log in, they will see a feed of their child's recent activity, including:
Parents can use the portal to check which work has been set for their child, and catch up on feedback from previously handed in work. They can also help their child log in to their Purple Mash account from the Parent Portal.
Children can choose to share work they're proud of with the Parent Share feature. Teachers can also share students' work this way.
All schools have a parent portal, which parents can access if the school would like them to use the feature.
To allow parents access to the parent portal, schools will just need to tick the 'Use parent code' option with printing pupil login cards.
This will automatically generate parent codes for each child's login card, along with the parent portal URL.
We've created a handy page with a video and PDF guide for parents that you can share here.
To stay in the loop with their child's learning, parents will see an activity feed, showing all the child's recent activity within Purple Mash, including 2Dos set and handed in, rewards and teacher feedback, and shared work.
Parents will also receive an automated Weekly Digest Email which provides parents with a breakdown of activities that their child has been involved in - all without the need for separate communication from the school.
Parents will only get automated updates and there are no features which allow parents to contact anyone through the Parent Portal.
Children can choose to share work that they are proud of with their parents through the Parent Share feature. Teachers can also do this on a child's behalf, which we know is a great way of celebrating a child's achievements.
Another benefit to the parent portal is that parents can log their child into Purple Mash from the Parent Portal, without the child needing to remember their log in details. This is especially useful during school holidays.
