Introducing Purple Mash PE: A Complete Primary PE Scheme of Work

Oct. 5, 2026

Purple Mash is expanding! Teachers who love the planning, step-by-step guidance, resources, and support that they get from Purple Mash will be excited to hear that a whole-school scheme of work for PE is now available as an affordable expansion pack - and it includes all the things they love about Purple Mash.

Everything you need to deliver primary PE confidently

Schools with Purple Mash are now able to add Purple Mash PE to their subscription as an expansion pack, and it sits within the same, well-known platform - meaning teachers don't need to learn another website, or remember new log in details.

What's included in Purple Mash PE?

The scheme has been designed around recommended provision of two 50-minute PE lessons per week for Key Stages 1 and 2, providing schools with a broad and balanced programme of physical activity across the academic year.

Guided Lessons for Primary PE

Included within the scheme are 12 teaching units per year group, giving schools the coverage they need for the recommended two lessons per week, while still allowing for flexibility. Each unit gives an overview, prior learning, skills focus, teaching tips, assessment statements and 6 lessons.

Each lesson contains a lesson plan (including a warm up and cool down activity), equipment list and slides with images and diagrams to help explain key skills being taught - making it easy for non-specialists to teach the lessons.

Primary PE Assessment Tools

In addition to the assessment statements at the end of each unit, there is a ready-made assessment spreadsheet for teachers to input their teacher judgements.

There's also a Progression of Skills document which outlines the skills children should be taught in each unit as they progress through school.

Resources and Support for PE Leads

For PE leaders, there is a whole PE Leader's Toolkit, containing:

  • PE Policy Guidances
  • Subject Leader Audit
  • Self-Evaluation
  • Action Plan
  • Governor, Teacher and Support Staff Surveys
  • Parent Surveys
  • Pupil Surveys
  • Top Tips for PE Leaders

PE Leads will also find the Unit Picker useful - assign teaching dates to units across year groups, and it will create a PDF calendar view for easy at-a-glance viewing of what is being taught across the whole school at any given point in the year.

There is also an Equipment List for all units of work across the school, making it simple to order anything that's needed for the year ahead.

An Affordable PE Scheme

Purple Mash PE starts from just £199 per year for a one-form-entry primary school, offering value for money. Even a five year subscription costs a very small fraction of the remaining Sports Premium, meaning it's a great long-term investment to ensure your school has quality PE provision for years to come.
