On 16th May, Ofsted published their research review into the computing curriculum, aiming to 'identify factors that can contribute to a high-quality computing teaching and learning and including factors such as the curriculum itself, pedagogy, assessment and systems in place'. We've taken a close look at the report and identified how Purple Mash meets each of those factors, and throughout this week we're posting a series of blog posts outlining exactly how it does this. Each daily blog will cover 2-3 of the factors in depth, looking at what the report says and highlighting where Purple Mash supports them.

Across the United Kingdom, 1 in 3 people have some form of hearing loss, whether that be that they are deaf, hard of hearing or experiencing tinnitus. Ultimately, there is a high chance that someone close to you has some form of hearing loss. This could be a family member, a friend, or a colleague. Despite this striking statistic, hearing loss often goes unacknowledged, leading to feelings of isolation for those affected. By becoming more aware this Deaf Awareness Week, we can all play a part in creating a more inclusive and accessible society, one where communication is clear and where support is readily available.

Podcasting is an increasingly popular type of media that children are familiar with and actively listening to. A poll by the National Literacy Trust found that 42% of 8-18 years olds enjoyed listening to audio in their free time, compared with 34% of children who enjoy reading in their free time. There are dedicated children's podcast charts, and they can be an excellent way to promote reading. Why not then encourage children to create their own podcasts with 2Cast?
