20th March 2020, was the last day of school for many, as children, teachers and parents began a new way of learning at home. Schools have never been closed and many have remained open during holidays in order to support their local communities.

Schools that were Purple Mash subscribers began using it to support home learning and started to realise its potential as a fully cross curricular resource. Teachers have been contacting us to tell us about the engagement they have had from children and parents, the ease of use, safety features and the wide range of activities that they’re setting for their children.

This year International Women's Day falls on Sunday 8th March with the theme Give to Gain. The day was created to celebrate women and their achievements, whilst challenging stereotypes, bias, discrimination and perceptions. To mark the day, we have several resources and activities for you to use on Purple Mash, giving children a chance to explore and write about inspirational women from across the globe.

At 2Simple we want to help by raising awareness of International Literacy Day and the importance of young people gaining those valuable literacy and language skills that are needed throughout life.

The RSPB Big Schools' Birdwatch is a great opportunity to get students outside and closer to nature. Taking part can count towards the RSPB's Wild Challenge award, and the RSPB's activities support curriculum learning. How a pioneering international school is using Purple Mash to unite two curricula and put learning at the heart of every lesson.

At Tenby Schools Penang, Purple Mash is doing more than supporting lessons, it’s helping unite two curricula under one shared approach to teaching and learning. With a 1:1 iPad programme in place, the focus isn’t on the technology itself, but on how it enables creativity, collaboration, and deeper thinking across both the international and national schools.

Rather than a rigid rollout, staff were given the freedom to explore the platform first and the result was immediate buy-in. Today, Purple Mash is embedded across different subjects and year groups, with pupils using it daily to plan, create, code, and communicate their ideas.

The impact? More connected teaching, more personalised learning, and a platform that supports the school’s wider mission to develop confident, curious learners.
