Mental Health Awareness week, hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, is an annual event when there is an opportunity for the whole of the UK to focus on achieving good mental health. This year it takes place from 12th to 18th May and has the theme of 'Community'.

To support schools, with Mental Health Awareness Week, we have featured a range of resources from Purple Mash and free resources that relate to the theme, as well a handy guide to share with parents about how to support children's mental health at home.

Podcasting is an increasingly popular type of media that children are familiar with and actively listening to. A poll by the National Literacy Trust found that 42% of 8-18 years olds enjoyed listening to audio in their free time, compared with 34% of children who enjoy reading in their free time. On Monday 22nd September Year 6 pupils at Fairlop School were treated to an inspiring and thought-provoking assembly as part of the official launch of Brainchild, the sixth and final collaboration between much-loved children's authors Ivor Baddiel and Jonny Zucker.
